Close the borders, repeal the Emergency Medical Treatment Act, and give hospital Healthcare Systems ‘privity’ to personal injury insurance settlements. This ‘privity’ model will give emergency services and continuing care given by hospitals to patients injured in accidents first access to settlement, instead of lawyers.
That is the conclusion I came to after six years of suffering and research. I suffered under personal injury settlement practices where the people who helped me first, stabilized my condition, and gave me care for years were the LAST ONES to gain access to the insurance settlement.
Obamacare ‘federalized’ healthcare, contrary to the fact that it is a legitimate state issue. One might say that it is a State’s Legitimate and Plenary duty to oversee the health, safety and welfare of its citizens. After all, we are first and foremost citizens of our respective states, local control always being superior to what comes out of Washington, DC.
IS THAT FAIR?
In a more recent healthcare crisis, I couldn’t see a urologist, not even a doctor! I was stuck seeing a PA who kicked my ‘can’ down the road. Before I could visit her referral I ended up in the ER, an incompetent intake nurse misreading the ultrasound, and I sat in the ER in morbid pain for 3 hours while watching the staff scurry to take care of an indigent person, possibly an illegal alien a he couldn’t speak English. A woman next to me was bent over, moaning in pain. She also was waiting forever for help.
After I finally recieved care, and relief from off-the-chart pain (my bladder was slowly rupturing) the attending physician rushed into my room, looked at the chart, and personally apologized for me . . . panic and care was in his eyes. That incident, that could have been avoided with more immediate care by a doctor, not a PA, resulted in complications. I almost died of sepsis. And has taken six years to recover my health.
PREVIOUS INCIDENT FROM 2005
That was 2019. I am finally almost fully recovered. Back in 2005 I was 50, an athlete. No gut, no fat, a 38″ waist. 6’6″ and 250 lbs, I could bicycle 50 miles in 2.5 hours and I did it every other day! I started feeling weak and called a doctor who recommended B12. The second doctor saw me and prescribed predinsone. Get this, neither doctor performed any tests. Why? Because cutbacks in costs by the medical group that bought out our local hospitals (which were going bankrupt due to indigent and illegal alien care) told their doctors no tests and to limit consults to 15 minutes.
Over the next week or two I became weaker until I couldn’t even turn the key in my car ignition. So I took a taxi to the ER and guess what? They charged me the $500, but sent me home untreated because they DIDN’T HAVE A NEUROLOGIST ON CALL.
The next day I called in and they couldn’t set me up with a neurologist, but I insisted. So they found me a spot and within 30 seconds with the neurologist I was wheeled to Intensive Care, and there I remained for 8 days.
When I got back home I was no longer sick, the liters of Gamma Globulin dumped into my veins stopping the autoimmune reaction. But I couldn’t walk more than fifty feet. I was in bed all day. The slightest effort put me back in bed for the rest of the day. I couldn’t work for two years . . . I gained 80 lbs . . . my life was ruined. They had to put me on five different meds, three for my heart. So, I went from athlete to invalid in two weeks, because doctors refusing to see me or do tests.
But, the main article concentrates on personal injury settlement. 2000, I was hit by a car and my neck, back, ribs, collar, and wrist were broken. I had a collapsed lung. It took years to settle, and my research on the demise of our healthcare system and government interference is discussed at length (3000 words).
