In this holiday season for both Jews and Christians, the glaring incompatibility of Islam with Western culture deserves more examination.

Is Islam one of the Three Abrahamic Religions? Some say yes, merely because the Koran references both the New and Old Testaments citing Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Mary, the prophets, and the Christ.

But the Koran was conceived of over 500 years after the death of Christ and the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD, and in Arabia. The Ka’bah in Mecca began as a temple for idols. The Koran delves into the bible, but some elements appear to come from what Christians call Apocryphal texts, such as the Books of Enoch and Barnabas.

Brevity is essential in discussing religion because you can really get into the weeds, so to speak. So let us just hit the high points:

MUHAMMAD IN THE BIBLE?

This is where the Book of Barnabas may have influenced Muhammad, who also misinterpreted the parakletos, Final Helper or Holy Spirit, in John 14:16. Coincidently, the ‘Prophet’ Montanus also relied on this scripture to raise his status to a ‘holy man.’ Here it is as represented in the Koran:

Surah 61:

6. And remember, Jesus, the son of Mary, said: “O Children of Israel! I am the apostle of Allah (sent) to you, confirming the Law (which came) before me, and giving Glad Tidings of an Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad.” But when he came to them with Clear Signs, they said, “this is evident sorcery!”

NOTE: Here the Koran quotes the Christ who relegates himself to that of an apostle declaring the ‘glad tidings’ of the Greater One, the Final Prophet, named ‘AMAD,’ which refers to Muhammad. So, Islam teaches Muhammad is the Final Prophet, greater than the Christ.

However, where were the apostles Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John who declared in witness the life of Christ with almost perfectly concurrent versions? Did they not witness this declaration of the Christ, or at least retell it as hearsay from Mary?

How about the Transfiguration? The event is recorded in Luke and shows the vison of a resurrected Christ with the prophets Moses and Elijah. If Muhammad is the Greater and Final Prophet, where is he?

And, finally, how can Muhammad claim coming from the House of David as the genealogies of the Jewish people, except that preserved in Luke 4 of the Christ, were destroyed with the Temple in 70 AD?

Surah 5:

51. O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.

73. They do blaspheme who say: Allah is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One Allah. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them.

75. Christ the son of Mary was no more than an apostle;

Surah 19:

29. But she pointed to the babe. They said: “How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?”

30. He said: “I am indeed a servant of Allah. He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet;

33. “So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)”!

34. Such (was) Jesus the son of Mary: (it is) a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute.

So, a part of the Koran includes ‘baby talk,’ an infant Jesus speaking out with authority from Mary’s arms.

RELIGIONS SHATTERED

The early Protestants broke away from the Church of Rome and England in protest, in part, to the Trinity Doctrine. Christ may have been ‘one,’ or in agreement with the Father, but they were not the same entity. Historians in Christology theorize the origins of the Trinity are not from the bible but the Council of Nicaea. Muhammad rebelled against this as Christians adopting a form of polytheism.

He protests against the Jews for denying Christ as a prophet. He also reinstitutes the Dietary Laws, the New Testament setting aside to admit the gentiles, a change in the law when the New Covenant opened the way to God through Christ, and the abolishing of strict Jewish Dietary Laws in the Old Testament.

There is no way Muhammad and Islam can claim to be superior and the Final Word. How can a corrupt mass murderer who gained power through rape, plunder, and the sword, dying in opulent wealth married to a 9-year old, claim any moral superiority to the Christ? There are no ‘bone fides‘ except for his claim that the Koran came to him from the angels.

Was Muhammad descended from Ishmael and Esau, the issue of Hagar the Egyptian slave cast out by Abraham and fleeing to Arabia? Again, there are no genealogies, only a verbal claim.

The Jewish People did not accept the Christ as the Son of God, the prophesized Messiah. But that denial ended in Christ’s death and the destruction of the Temple, and the Diaspora of the Jewish People from Israel under the sword of the Romans. And don’t forget that almost all the first Christians were actually Jews who splintered off.

And Christians? Did they, under the Roman takeover of the religion, ‘step away’ from the Truth by adopting a pagan Triumvirate of Deities? There is no biblical or historic record of the Apostle Peter ever being in Rome, but that is the claim of the Roman Catholic Church.

All this is worth consideration. Have a Happy and Blessed Passover and Easter. Christians are being massacred in Syria and Africa. Jews were massacred in Israel on October 7 . . . Shi’ite Muslims are killing off Sunni Muslims . . .
